the higher you go, more careful people are regarding their resumes, especially in US. My impression is that resumes tend to fly around in China. Mr. Anruopo may not have much complain here. I saw several great posts from others as well.
Candiate has all the rights in the world to know the comp range beforehand. Even then, it may not be enough.
An example: 7 years ago, candiate knew the people well, the position well, compensation agreed upon. the offering call went "we can offer... but the bonus package has no formula any more. 'God' said 'No' when he reviewed it" career path changed completely afterwards. very mixed feeling whenever see the "God' on TV or read about him on WSJ.
More transperancy/understanding, the better for the relationship in the long term.
