Answer:
1. For every 2 years, you can claim a capital gain tax break for your Primary residance for 250K/person.. Every house if you lived for 2 years in the last 5 years, then you can take the break;
2. No, if you did not live in the US and claimed foreign residence status in your tax filing status, then you are not eligible for this tax break. You,as a US citizen, have to report your capital gain from the real estate sale to IRS and pay the TAX!
3. No, the tax tready with China does not exempt you from paying US taxes since you are not working in acedamic institutions. As a US citizen, You have to file a US income tax return every year and you can either claim your first $82400 Chinese income as a deduction or you can claim your chinese tax as a tax credit, either one, you can only choose one. Paying world wide income is one of the most important benifits as a US citizen.
