Job Description
Title: Director – Head of Central Services
Department: Asia Systems
Reports to: Head of Infrastructure Services, Asia Pacific
Location: Dalian, China
Purpose of your role
The role takes overall responsibility for the infrastructure services groups being established in Dalian. The candidate will report directly to the Head of Infrastructure services for Asia Pacific. The candidate will take the lead in developing an organisational structure in Dalian to accommodate the growth forecast in both FIL and FMR business.
They will liaise with the functional leaders in the group to establish priorities and be responsible for delivery. Strong communication skills are required as they will need to build relationships not only in Asia but also with colleagues in US, India and UK in order to further develop Dalian capability and recognise opportunity for leveraging existing technology solutions, processes and controls.
The candidate must take a pro-active approach in developing industry standard practises in Dalian to further areas of Service Management to improve the service offered to customers through Asia Pacific.
The candidate is expected to display professional ethics in his/her approach to work and exhibit a high level leadership within a dynamic working environment. The role demands an expert leader who has in depth knowledge of the latest key tools and technologies, a commitment to innovation, automation, and doing the right thing
Your key accountabilities
• Very Strong management skills (planning, budgeting, estimating, reporting, monitoring, staffing)
• A mentality to protect the production environment without comprimise
• Full understanding of operation processes like incident, problem and change management
• Detailed knowledge of operating environments and typical issues arising
• Plan future work expansion and possible work transitions from other parts of Fidelity
• Experience of managing external suppliers, including supplier selection and management
• Coach direct reports and team leaders to aid their development; Maintain close supervision of staff attrition levels, anticipate and identify short-falls, work to retain quality staff
• Strategic thinker that can develop a programme of continual improvements
• Champion the design and development of detailed operating process and procedures
• Develop a structured approach for hand-over of systems into infrastructure services
Your skills and experience
Essential skills
• Bachelor degree or above; 12 + years of experience
• Understanding and knowledge of the China IT industry
• A leader at ease with managing and moulding technical teams
• Proven track record in operational environment with a strong service management background
• Broad understanding of ITIL working practises
• Broad understanding of IT systems and services and established best practise
• Energy, tenacity and strong focus on delivery and results
• Strong written and presentation skills
• Able to identify and challenge assumptions
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to articulate performance through set of established performance metric, KPI’s
• Strong written & spoken Mandarin and English language skills
Desirable skills
• Financial industry experience
• Previous management experience in China
• Experience of IT off-shoring/outsourcing models
