Material Scientist / Polymer Chemist
Specific Responsibilities
• Key member of multi-functional R&D team charged with developing process and material concepts for Spectra® fiber process and product innovations
• Fully leverage chemistry to enable step changes in fiber process and properties.
• Establish capability for high throughput experimentation and concept analysis
• Determine requirements for pilot scale evaluations of high value concepts
• Develop and execute experimental program to quantify component and system benefit
• Fully leverage Six Sigma tools and methodologies to ensure effective experimentation and analysis
Position Scope
• Novel product and related process development based on ultra high molecular weight poly (ethylene) fiber & composite for non-armor application.
Educational & Other Requirements
M.S. or Ph.D in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Engineering or related discipline
3 years of experience in related roles of progressive complexity and responsibility, ultra high molecular weight poly(ethylene) experience desired
Demonstrated success in developing innovative technologies and approaches
Excellent English communication, teaming and presentation skills

• Technical competence- statistical, analytical and computer skills
• Knowledgeable regarding fiber structure-property relationships
• Organization skills and project management skills
