BASED ON MY ALMOST 9 YRS IN CHINA,
1. the policies in China are all bad. All good ones are no longer available cuz they realized they lost money [or it was created to sell to their relative. after the relative all purchased the policy, it would then be taken out of market. u never know.]
conclusion: not worth buying
2. Western policies [The Wetern insurance companies'' policies in China belong to the category above since the insurance market is tightly regulated by the government.]
2A. covering new conditions only -- u did not have the condition during the 24 mths right before u buy the policy and you did not even consult any physician about the condition in the period.
about US$400/mth, still there are deductible and co-payment
2B. covering all conditions
God knows how much per month if you buy it individually
However, I had the policy with 100% reimbursement outside USA from CIGNA for 3.5 yrs and I reimbursed A LOT. It is a group insurance the US company I worked for bought for all its expats [moving a Caucasian that far without promising to cover all the housing, meal, insurance, etc.???]
conclusion: do not buy if ur company does not buy for u.
why?
付彪 had two liver transplants and his bills were added up to less than RMB 1 million [grand total]
in China
any doctor visit -- several hundred RMB at least
any hospitalization -- several thousand RMB at least
any \"maor\" surgery -- several \"wan\" RMB at least
worst terminaing illness -- very unlikey to exceed 1 million RMB unless u r very rich
I have not had any policy since 2001 although I will be 60 in 3 mths.
cuz CIGNA learned I left my company so they created all kind of excuses not to reimburse me.
why
Bechtel has probably 10000 expats worldwide and CIGNA cannot afford to lose such a giant client.
Once I became nobody wandering on street, do they still have to worry about I might complain?
This is why we turtles do not think US and China are that different.
The moon in US is indeed rounder, but not that much rounder.
