１）冰山
２）CAPELIN 上潮
３）鲸鱼+鸟岛
1) 纽芬兰位于加拿大东海岸. 每年六，七月份，很多冰山从GREENLAND漂下来，成为纽芬兰三大TOURIST ATTRACTIONS之一 当年著名的TITANIC就在该岛东南方２－３百公里处葬身鱼腹了。很遗憾，去年去岛上玩没见到冰山，大概是GLOBAL WARMING在捣乱，冰山在半道上都化掉了....
2) CAPELIN， 不知中文名， 每年六月底，七月初，徊游到纽芬兰岛的海湾，随着涨潮冲到沙滩上产卵。 几天之后沙滩上软呼呼的全是鱼子。每年这季节, at the bottom the food chain, capelin 成了 squid, cod fish, seals, 鲸鱼的美食.
最好的吃法是用油炸酥，一口一只.
Atlantic herring is bigger than capelin, about 12 inches in size.
Here I copy a paragraph from Wikipedia on capelin:
The capelin, Mallotus villosus, is a small fish of the smelt family found in the Arctic Ocean in large quantities. In summer, it grazes on dense swarms of plankton at the edge of the ice shelf. Larger capelin also eats a great deal of krill and other crustaceans. Whales, seals, cod, squid, mackerel and seabirds all prey on capelin in particular during the spawning season of the capelin while it migrates southwards. Capelin spawns on sandy beaches and sandy bottom at the age of 2-6 years, and has an extremely high mortality rate on the beaches after spawning, for males close to 100% mortality.
Females reach 20 cm in length, while males are up to 25 cm long. They are olive-colored dorsally, shading to silver on sides. Males have a translucent ridge on both sides of their bodies. The ventral aspects of the females iridesce reddish at the time of spawn.
In the province of Newfoundland in Canada, it is a regular summertime practice to go to the beach and scoop the capelin up in nets or whatever is available, as the capelin " roll in " in the millions each year at end of June or early July.
