When I was in Albany, I rented a car in the airport and I lived in Days inn which is close to the airport. It was about 20 mins for me to drive to exam place . ( Note: the places might be changed every bar season.) I went to the exam place on the day before exam to make sure the drive time, parking area and the situation of the exam room.
BTW, suggest that you come to the city a few days in advance so you can get familiar with it. you can get a map from your hotel or a restaurant. Also suggest that you better choose a closer hotel.
