I have discussed in detail earlier why we shall classify Mr. AnXiao 's fund as "an angel fund". If the success rate for an angel fund is at 5%, then one has to invest at least 20 companies to get one success. If the success return for this company is less than 20 times, than he is still loosing money even with one success investment. If the success rate is at 2 %, then one has to invest at least 50 companies to get one success investment. If the one success investment has less than 50times of return, then he is still loosing money. That is why Mr. An Xiao's investment plan discribed in his post here stating that he is going to invest only a companies showed that he is unexperienced in manage an angel fund.
With expected extensive dilution in late stage real VC investments to a pre-IPO company, 10-20 times of return is quite difficult to achieve for angel investor for one IPO company. Then you can see the risk and reward. If you cannot understand the meth here then better to put the money to mutual fund.
