She doesn；t have month/years of stay in US (like you brag about) to figure all this thing out. Put you in her shoe, are you able to understand all this in such short time?
It is not uncommon that american officer abuse their power, we all heard story of corruptive policeman, excessive power.. during those years. Are you sure you will be safe if you TRY to follow their law/rule/culture carefully?
Given you stay in US for sometime now, you should have known American don；t trust their government by nature.. and you should have the same mindset if you really want to swim in their culture.
