When I was in Skye last month, I saw those paint marks on sheep and got very curious. The host at the B&B told me why. Every year, when rams are getting "sexually active within the community", the owner of the sheep stock will paint the underbodies of rams with certain color to distinguish with other stocks. So when rams mount female sheep, the paint will be left on the back side of female sheep..... Well, on the next day, I saw female sheep with their head colored. So did these sheep just get naughty.....??
