One commonality of the women in <<Sex>> is that they don't feel that they are belongings to men. They feel they are entitled to do what men do, that is to seek sex and relationship for their own enjoyment.
This is not to say which way is better. I am simply pointing out the obvious, that you think within the old social norm.
