I did contract work at GE's Allison Gas Turbine, an aircraft engine facility (probably in Buffalo, too much water pass by under the bridge and my memory tends to fail, lol).
They took great pride that GE was in the DOW at the beginning, and was still in it almost 100 years later. And it indeed remains in the DJIA today.

GE was removed from the Dow in early 1900s and was brought back in to fill a vacancy left by Tennessee Coal & Iron in the abyss of the 1907 panic. TC&I was absorbed by US Steel, then a Morgan interest.
